Life Cycle of Tall Building Structural Systems

To establish a definitive comparison of the life-cycle implications of steel, concrete, and composite structural systems in tall buildings.

This report is the product of a multi-faceted research project studying the life cycles of various tall building structural systems, graciously sponsored by a $300,000 grant from ArcelorMittal.

It establishes a definitive comparison of the life-cycle implications of steel, concrete, and composite structural systems in tall buildings. The study also developed a methodology for the assessment of life cycle energy and carbon use in tall building structural systems, which can now be adopted as a standard tool for the industry.
